Our Mission
Through Christ, we courageously love.
Bethany Lutheran Church is one of 145 congregations in the Northeastern Minnesota Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
The mission of the ELCA:
"Marked with the cross of Christ forever, we are claimed, gathered and sent for the sake of the world."
As members of the ELCA, we believe that we are freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. With our hands, we do God's work of restoring and reconciling communities in Jesus' name throughout the world.

Worship FAQs
Are children welcome in worship?
Who can take communion?
Although no particular age is prescribed, the decision is made through mutual conversation between the pastor, the child, and the parents or sponsors.
What kind of worship service do you have?
Our service is usually one hour long. The pastor wears a white alb and stole. Communion is offered the first and third Sundays. Vestment colors change with the church season.
We follow the Revised Common Lectionary and use the Evangelical Lutheran Worship hymnal. A bulletin helps guide participation, and hymns are accompanied by piano. The choir or bell choir may perform during special services.
